COURTESY POST - MARIO IS AVAILABLE WITH THE BE LIKE JOSH FOUNDATION
Handsome, quirky Mario has come so far and I am really proud of him!! He came to us a few months ago as an overstimulated, wobbly Husky who was constantly mouthing the hands of anyone who was holding his leash and lacked self restraint in every situation. He also struggled with social cues from other dogs and wanted to play at an intense level with no off switch.
Today, Mario is well behaved and emotionally balanced. He has learned how to co-exist with other dogs in the home and respect their boundaries. He still LOVES to play but now he can also lay by himself and occupy his time with toys or just be chill and still all on his own.
Mario is a playgroup rockstar and knows how to hang with a pack without escalating behavior. He takes correction well, has good off leash recall and rides well in the car.
Mario’s ideal home is with a strong handler. That isn’t code for anything, it means what it means. If he were to be adopted by a push over, or someone who just spoils him, he will rule the house. He would do best with someone who has big dog experience and knows how to take command of stubborn husky personality traits. He also needs a canine companion. Having another playful dog friend to hangout with is very important to him. He is very dog social and loves to be amongst other dogs.
Mario is very healthy but has a sensitive stomach so diet changes need to be approached slowly. Neurologically speaking, Mario has very mild CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) symptoms. He has not had an MRI yet because his slight wobbliness is more of acute quirk than a “special need”.
Mario is currently located in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and is available for adoption anywhere in the US.
